My Bio

I'm a varied artist. My art journey began with jewellery, but it didn't stay contained to just metalworking. In addition to being an independent studio jeweller, I'm also a young adult scifi/fantasy indieauthor and a freelance digital illustrator/concept artist. However, what ties all three of my art loves together is that they are all inspired by history and fantasy. Author of: The Gemquist Chronicles

- Miss Gemquist and the Pearl of Peking

- Miss Gemquist and the Black Queen (coming soon) Guilded Kingdoms

- From the Ashes

- Out of Her Depths (coming soon)

Note me on commissions.

Managed almost 900 words today on the second book in my fairy tale retelling series! After a couple months of just feeling 'blah' and struggling to concentrate on anything my writing momentum is finally picking back up again. Just passed 11k total word count for this project and curious where it will end up at considering book one was almost 183k words.

I am excited, relieved, and horribly exhausted! The high fantasy, fairy tale retelling that I've been working on-stop on and burning the midnight oil over for the last year (plus a little of the year before) is finally finished! Also, it's a big one! Final pre-edit word count is 171,193 total words and, thus far, my word counts have only ever gone up after editing. I still have to make the maps and do the final cover art for it, as well as the formatting and some other pre-publication prep for it, but I'm aiming for a late spring/early summer release or, failing that, a mid/late summer release if things take longer than anticipated. In the meantime though, chapter drafts are available on Royal Road, Wattpad, and on Patreon (which gets advanced chapters), but they will all be coming down once it is ready for release on Amazon as it will be going into Kindle Unlimited. Also, here's the promo cover and blurb! A young artist desperate to be free. For nearly seven years, Lael Verane

After much consideration, I decided to open a RedBubble store with my digital paintings! Up until now, I've only offered prints publicly via ArtStation with merch being a Patreon/SubscribeStar/Buy Me a Coffee supporter perk. However, as I'm still offering merch to my supporters, I've tried to make sure that what I offer on RedBubble is different from what I offer to supporters. There is though a good selection of product type available publicly, as well as, exclusively to supporters. I hope you'll check it out! Also, if you like my art, please consider supporting me at any of the links above! Patreon, SubScribeStar, and Buy Me a Coffee all have subscription options and, Buy Me a Coffee also allows for one-time support!

Good morning!

Interested in book covers. The artist whom created the original image I hoped to use, has pretty much vanished from DA, and I don't know how to proceed. I'd like to use that image but it would have to be re-created(?) and I think that would be.... insulting, to the original artist.

So I have thoughts for a new one, but it will take some doing, I suspect.

This is a ways down the road, but I am seeking artists out, and figure to add / watch your works.

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. If there is a particular image you are wanting to license for a book cover, you would have to work that out with the artist. However, if you are unable to get in contact with them to discuss it, then you will need to seek out another artist for a completely new image as it would not be legal for them to recreate the original image.

I am available to work on custom covers and do both digital illustration and photomanipulation. However, I would need to know more about your project to know whether or not it is a good fit for me as I don't work in all genres. If you would like to discuss it with me in more detail, you can either private message me here on DA or email me at rilaissart@gmail.com .

Thanks for your help in my "Painter vs Clip" forum post.

You are very welcome! I wish you the best in making your choice. I know how hard choosing between software can be.

No problem! You have some beautiful textures/styles! Do you allow commercial use as well as personal use? I looked, but couldn't find if you had any licensing rules for your resources.

Wishing you a very :iconbdayplz: from cemac and :icondigitaldelights: and may this year be your happiest and most successful and creative one yet.
